Neoprene

If you have any interest in water sports (which you probably do if you are reading this page), then you are probably already familiar with the magical material which is Neoprene. You may have sat on neoprene, been fully encased in neoprene, put your laptop in a neoprene case and carried it with a neoprene strap, stuck your feet in neoprene boots, put your hands in neoprene gloves, and the rest of your body in a neoprene wetsuit. Or a neoprene drysuit, for that matter. If you are sitting at a desk right now, there is a good chance you are using your mouse on a neoprene mousepad. Well, are you? It’s creepy isn’t it? It’s like neoprene is stalking you.

Neoprene is many things, including but not limited to the following:

  • a trade name of the company Dupont.
  • a synthetic rubber.
  • polymerized chloroprene, a.k.a. polychloroprene.
  • CH2=CCl-CH=CH2
  • 2-chloro-1,3-butadiene
